Family of missing Nassau politician urges public to join beach search

|

Desperate to find their loved one, the family of a missing Nassau politician pleaded Tuesday morning for the public to help search the shoreline of Long Beach, Lido Beach and Jacob Riis Park.

Eleni-Lemonia Krommidas posted optimal “high tide times” over the next three days to look for her 29-year-old brother Petros on the beach — an ominous indication the family believes he may have entered the ocean.

Petros Krommidas, a Democratic candidate for Nassau County Legislature’s 4th District in a June 24 primary, was last seen about 9 p.m. Wednesday in his hometown Baldwin, police said. Authorities and relatives indicated that searchers on Monday found Krommidas’ car near the Long Beach boardwalk and his clothing on the beach, Newsday reported.

“My brother, Petros Krommidas, is still missing. I don’t have the right words right now. My heart is broken,” Eleni-Lemonia Krommidas, a doctor of naturopathic medicine at The Luna Center for Natural Health in New Hampshire. “But I need to say thank you — to every single person sharing, searching, checking in, and showing up for our Peter. Please keep sharing and searching. We need to find him.”
