First look at Huntington’s newest bookstore and café, Published

|

Books and brews are the name of the game at downtown Huntington’s newest bookstore, Published.

Owner Angela Jurow quietly opened the doors this week with a soft opening at the former Finely’s of Greene Street, with plans for a grand opening soon.

As Greater Long Island previously reported, Published will share the property with Mighty Fine eatery and pie bar, the all-day café that recently debuted a Huntington pop-up ahead of its permanent move into the subdivided site. The new businesses mark the next chapter for the former Finely’s, which closed in August after a three-decade run.

Step inside the former bar and late-night dance spot and you’ll now find a cozy bookstore filled with hundreds of titles. Off to the left is a bar that will serve beer, wine, signature cocktails, coffee drinks and tea — all designed to pair with your latest read.

The kitchen portion of the property has been separated to house Mighty Fine’s permanent café, with plans for collaboration between the two businesses. Jurow said Published will also carry prepackaged goods from Mighty Fine once that storefront officially opens.

“We want this to be a space where people can feel comfortable,” Jurow said. “Parents can come meet up and kids can look through books.”

After getting the keys to the former bar in November, Jurow and her husband Brett reimagined the space into a book lover’s retreat. The shop includes space for book clubs, author visits and workshops.

“The possibilities are endless,” she said.

Toward the back of the store is an extensive children’s section with books for babies, toddlers and young adults.

Published is located at 47 Green St. in Huntington. Check back with Greater Long Island for grand opening details.
