Fundraiser: Help support local businesses while benefitting healthcare workers

|

The Babylon Village Chamber of Commerce has launched a fundraising campaign that will help support the village’s businesses while benefiting the staff at West Islip’s Good Samaritan Hospital.

The chamber will be doing that through a GoFundMe page it began promoting on Thursday.

The funds raised in the campaign will go toward buying food from local restaurants and gift cards from retailers in the downtown and giving it to healthcare workers.

“They are on the front lines of the COVID-19 outbreak and deserve to know they have the support of our wonderful community,” the chamber’s president, Kelly Peckholdt, wrote on Facebook.

The fundraiser also aims to help the business district during the ongoing health crisis.

“We figured this is a way to support as many of our businesses as possible,” Peckholdt told GreaterBabylon.
