A nurse’s aide at Good Samaritan University Hospital sexually abused a 15-year-old patient in the facility’s behavioral health unit earlier this month, Suffolk Police said Friday.

Trever Lauriano, 36, of Wyandanch was arrested after another hospital employee called 911 to report the abuse, police said. Suffolk Police Special Victims Section detectives determined Lauriano abused the girl on Aug. 3, cops said, while she was a patient in the unit, located inside the West Islip hospital.

Lauriano pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Friday at Suffolk First District Court in Central Islip. Court records indicate he faces one count of forcible touching (intimate parts) as the top charge, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and three counts of third-degree sexual abuse. He is due back in court on Sept. 4.

Lauriano has been fired from his position at the West Islip hospital.

“Upon learning of this incident, the individual was immediately placed on administrative leave while an investigation was conducted, resulting in termination of employment,” the hospital said in a statement. “We take these matters very seriously. The safety of our patients remains our top priority.”

Detectives are asking anyone with additional information, or anyone who believes they may be a victim, to call the Special Victims Section at 631.852.6531.
