Cornucopia, Sayville
In the front of Cornucopia, you can find 100 percent organic and non-GMO groceries and produce, and in the back the deli serves healthy, yet tasteful ready-to-eat items. The menu lists all of the ingredients in each item, so you know what is gluten-free, soy-free, dairy-free or paleo. Most salads substitute veganaise (eggless mayo) for mayonnaise and the Macaroni and Cheese includes a vegan “cheese” that is made in-house with no processed or packaged cheese alternatives.
The Quinoa Salad with cashews and cranberries is especially good and has been on the menu for more than 20 years, along with the Waldorf Chicken Salad. Both salads are fan favorites and dairy-free and gluten-free. Other popular ready-to-eat options include the Lentil Patties and Eggplant Meatballs which both contain minimal ingredients and sport a dairy-free, gluten-free and vegan tag.
Their newest item is one that has people talking; it’s a vegan version of pulled pork with BBQ jackfruit and it’s worth a try.
