Brittany DeOrio has never won a giveaway competition.
That was until Aug. 15, when it was announced she will be taking home a pair of Ray-Bans through a contest sponsored by GreaterBayShore and Southside Family Vision.
“I never enter contests, but I was scrolling through Facebook then I saw the Ray-Bans and I just filled it out,” said the East Islip native when she picked up her glasses at the newly opened optical store on Thursday.
DeOrio, who is working toward becoming a radiologic technologist at Peconic Bay Medical Center, was one of the 110 submissions for the giveaway. The winner was chosen through a competition provider called Gleam.
“When I got the email from [GreaterBayShore’s] Nick I was like, “What! This has to be fake,” she said with a smile.
The only requirement to win the model 3025 Ray-Bans from Southside Family Vision was to supply GreaterBayShore with a favorite donut topping. We will be doing something fun with that data later this year.
Before leaving 2 West Main Street with her new shades, the maple bacon donut-enjoying contest winner loved the atmosphere of Southside Family Vision.
“It’s like a family here; such a nice place,” she said.
