Greater Long Island readers have spoken. And if you haven’t already guessed it, Bay Shore is home to Long Island’s greatest downtown.
“Bay Shore didn’t become the best downtown by chance, we became the best because we believed, we invested, and we built it together,” said Edward Fraser, who serves as the president of the Greater Bay Shore Chamber of Commerce and the deputy commissioner of the downtown’s Business Improvement District.
“This is our Cinderella story, a true example of revitalization at its finest, driven by a community that never gave up and businesses that took a chance on something special,” Fraser added. “When a community believes in itself the way Bay Shore does, there is no limit to what it can become.”

Runners-up
Greater Long Island readers, in a poll that went live Friday, also favored Patchogue, Babylon, Huntington and Port Jefferson in Suffolk County, in that order.
For Nassau: Oyster Bay, Farmingdale and Rockville Centre made the Top 3.
Sag Harbor was most favored on the East End.
