The Greater Long Island team took home a top-place finish at this year’s New York Press Association’s Better Newspaper Contest.
It was announced last month that editorial director Nicholas Esposito and the company’s head of multimedia, Andrew Theodorakis, earned First Place in the “Best Use of Video” category.
The journalists shot a feature about Bay Shore School District’s launch of the state’s first all-girl varsity wrestling team.
The story was published to greaterbayshore.com last April.
“This video has such unusual subject matter; it surely got great play,” the judges wrote.
