The award cabinet is filling up at Greater Long Island headquarters.
Late last month, the company’s content manager, Nicholas Esposito, earned a highly-selective Folio Award presented by the Fair Media Council, a nonprofit that advocates for quality journalism in the region.
Esposito earned the “Msgr. Thomas Hartman Award in Religion” for his coverage of the United Methodist Church of Bay Shore’s rebuilding efforts.
His coverage led to massive donations for the church.
“The Folio judging process is unlike any other, as it seeks to recognize outstanding news stories that combine journalistic excellence with information of relevance and importance to the public,” said Jaci Clement, the council’s CEO and executive director.
Esposito, a St. Joseph’s College graduate, has been with Greater Long Island websites since November 2016.
“Esposito is a once-in-a-generation talent in community reporting and this highly coveted Folio Award is testament to that,” said Michael White, the founder and editorial director at Greater Long Island Media Group, the region’s fastest-growing news company. “He’s Long Island born and raised, he’s passionate about his craft and services our communities, and that shows in all his work.”
