Argyle Theatre is preparing to open its curtains for its biggest production yet, “Guys and Dolls,” debuting this Thursday, May 10.
“It is really exciting,” said the theatre’s co-founder, Dylan Perlman, “The reception so far has been great.”
Since opening last month, the Argyle Theatre has held two shows, A Tribute to Donna Summer and Long Island Comedy Festival, with its opening show selling out.
“It’s almost been our dress rehearsal,” said Perlman on the opening events. “We’re now finally going about to start with what has become a massive production.”
According to Perlman, the show’s actors have been rehearsing for weeks in Manhattan, while a new set that features 10,000 light bulbs was being built in Brooklyn.
“We have high-end designers, and our director Evan Pappas is a Broadway veteran,” said Perlman.
For the show itself, it is going to be an adaptation to the Broadway classic.
“‘Guys and Dolls’ is re-envisioned and reimagined through our set and director,” said the theatre’s communications director, Jojo Minasi. “It will be a one-of-a-kind production.
“It is a love story and its fun, it’s energic, and it’s for all ages.”

SPRING AWAKENING 1.17.19 – 2.24.19
An angsty rock musical adaptation of the seminal play about the trials and tribulations of growing up.
THE PRODUCERS 3.14.19 – 4.21.19
A scheming producer and his mousy accountant aim to produce the biggest flop on Broadway in Mel Brooks’ laugh-out-loud spectacle.
Individual Standard Tickets will cost $74 each and Individual Saturday Evening Tickets will cost $79 each.

There will also be comedy nights and tribute shows, as well as a summer youth program, and another youth program of classes and workshops beginning in the Fall.
