‘Haley’s Hope’ campaign honors Haley and Dr. Shri Singh of Amityville

Haley Singh and her mom Dr. Shri Singh died weeks apart this fall.

Two teenage brothers have launched a heartfelt fundraiser, Haley’s Hope, in honor of St. Anthony’s High School sophomore Haley Singh and her mother, Dr. Shridevi “Shri” Singh, who died one month apart in a family tragedy that has touched people from across the world.

The campaign, hosted on GivingTuesday’s MightyCause platform, has raised $855 so far from 14 donors. The organizers describe the effort as a way to “carry Haley’s light forward by spreading joy to families during the holiday season.”

The fundraiser was created by 15-year-old twins Mark and Nicholas Herman, who were close friends of Haley and also shared a warm relationship with her mother. The Herman brothers and their classmates formed Haley’s Hope, while feeling “a powerful pull to do something meaningful” in wake of their deaths.

The effort is shaped by the qualities they say Haley embodied: “bright, kind, and full of heart.”

Haley, an only child, died on Oct. 6, just a week after being diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and severe liver failure. Her mother, a single mom who had been raising Haley on her own while excelling in a career as a breast cancer surgeon based in West Islip, died on Nov. 5.

Haley’s friends partnered with the KiDS NEED MoRE Holiday Cheer Bus, which adopts families, collects gifts, and delivers them during the holiday season. Through the partnership, Haley’s Hope is working to collect and deliver presents, adopt families for the holidays, and bring joy to people facing difficult times.

Haley, 15, was beloved by friends, teachers, and her community for her radiant spirit. She died on Oct. 6, 2025, only a week after being diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and severe liver failure. Her mother, who built her medical career around caring for breast cancer patients, wrote the day after Haley’s passing that her daughter was “an incredible soul” and that their bond was “incredibly strong and unbreakable.”
