Hampton Inn and Suites replacing Huntington’s old town hall, bookings start June 1

|

Holtsville-based Huntington Village Hotel Partners LLC is developing a $24 million, 80-room Hampton Inn & Suites at the former Huntington Town Hall.

The more-than-a-century-old structure at 227 Main St. will be converted into the hotel’s lobby, hot breakfast area, gym and business center. Construction is underway on a 53,636 square foot addition to house the 80 guest rooms.

Supervisor Edmund Smyth said the developer projects construction to wrap up by April 1.

However, guests may not to be able to stay overnight until June. At the top of web page for the forthcoming Hampton Inn, a banner reads “we’re accepting reservations for June 1, 2022, and beyond.”

For the Town of Huntington, officials hope the hotel will boost the downtown’s tourism appeal.

“I think it provides an amenity and a service to the town, in the Huntington Village that’s been lacking,” Smyth said. “It will provide overnight accommodations to people that are coming into Huntington Village as it becomes more and more of a destination.”
