Here comes the color to East Main Street

Downtown Patchogue’s much-anticipated designer crosswalk was installed Wednesday afternoon.

And as the crews worked, artist and designer Dave Rogers watched on like a proud parent.

How did it feel for Rogers, an Artspace Lofts resident, to see his work go from a sketch drawing to being hot-pressed into the middle of East Main Street?

In a word, “Great,” he said.

Quite surprisingly, just as soon as the art was burned into the pavement, cars and trucks were able to roll right over it.

Rogers says he hopes to see more towns and villages embrace the concept.
