Hermanas, Lindenhurst’s new Latin American restaurant, is now open

|

After months of eager anticipation from foodies in and around the GreaterBabylon area, Hermanas Kitchen and Cocktails in Lindenhurst has officially opened for business.

The restaurant’s co-owner’s Kristen Lapof, Lauren Nash and Sara Pesserillo — who are all best friends — swung open their doors last weekend at 136 South Wellwood Avenue.

“Everything has been great so far,” Pesserillo told GreaterBabylon last week. “This weekend will be the test.”

And it was.

On Friday night, diners packed into the 45-seat restaurant to try Hermanas’ mix of small and large plate dishes and assorted cocktails.

The dishes flying out of the kitchen early and often were the eatery’s shrimp tacos, pernil, and seared tuna, said the owners. To see the full menu click here.

For drinks, a hit concoction has been the Schrute Farms, a cocktail with tequila, agave, beet, and lime. And if you were wondering, yes, the drink is a nod to Dwight Schrute, a fan-favorite character from the TV series “The Office”.

Hermanas, which is currently closed Sundays and Mondays, is open Tuesday-Thursday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays, 5 p.m. to midnight.

There are plans to add a happy hour, lunch and brunch later this year.
