High achievement: Three Sayville high school musicians play at Carnegie Hall

|

Three Sayville High School musicians made their debut at Carnegie Hall in New York City last month, the school district announced.

As part of the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra, Emily Helbock, Luke Lundquist and Kate VanBoxel since September attended rehearsals to prepare for their once in a lifetime experience.

Emily played the French horn during the May 1 performance, while Luke played the tuba and Kate performed on the clarinet.

“Carnegie Hall is one of the most famous concert halls in the world and artists from every genre have performed there, including George Gershwin, Billie Holliday, Benny Goodman, Judy Garland, and The Beatles,” said a spokesperson for Sayville schools.

“It is quite an achievement for these young musicians to perform on the same stage as these legendary acts. Years of hard work and dedication have led to this incredible opportunity.”
