Hoptron Brewtique holds soft opening in Port Jeff, grand opening on Friday

Hoptron Brewtique will host a grand opening event on Friday, March 6.

The comeback is complete — Hoptron taps are flowing again.

Hoptron Brewtique held a soft opening Saturday at its new Port Jefferson Village location — and if the turnout was any indication, the comeback Amanda Danielsen envisioned is already happening.

“It went great,” Danielsen said. “For us, behind the bar, it was a hard soft opening. But everyone seemed to have a really good time.”

The invite-only preview drew about 125 RSVP’d guests, including longtime regulars from Hoptron’s original Patchogue run. Some even arrived with mementos from more than a decade ago.

“So many of the old regulars actually brought little things from like 10 years ago, 14 years ago when we opened,” she said. “The fact that people still remember us and kind of hold us in that memory part is really nice.”

Hoptron Brewtique is set to officially open Friday at 3 p.m.

Patchogue roots

As Greater Long Island reported in January, Danielsen is reopening Hoptron six years after closing its beloved Patchogue craft-beer bar, which operated from 2012 to 2019. She sold the business shortly before the pandemic after welcoming a child and as her mother became ill — a decision she has said was necessary, but far from easy.

“It was something I never really wanted to let go of,” she previously said. “Even when I sold it, I had to — but I didn’t want to.”

The revived Hoptron has taken over the high-profile former Toast Coffeehouse space in downtown Port Jefferson Village — a high-traffic spot that later housed Revival by Toast before closing last March.

Saturday’s soft opening was limited to friends, family and supporters who signed up through Hoptron’s website, giving Danielsen and her team a chance to fine-tune operations ahead of the official launch.

To start, the bar will be open six days a week — only closing on Mondays.

From Tuesday to Thursday, business hours will be 4 p.m. until 9 or 10 p.m; Friday’s hours are 3 p.m. to midnight; Saturday’s are noon to midnight; and Sunday’s operating hours will last from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
