Hot Chicken Mama in Blue Point opens Jan. 15

|

Set your calendars and clocks for 11 a.m. this Friday, Jan. 15. That’s when Hot Chicken Mama — a new fried chicken takeout spot in Blue Point – offically swings open its doors and starts curing your winter blues.

There’s been a ton of buzz in the community since GreaterSayville.com reported last month that the takeout eatery — there’s a drive-thru too — had taken up residence in the spot Beyond Philly left behind when it closed in October.

The idea for Hot Chicken Mama was cooked up during quarantine by Nick Petro, general manager at the South Shore Dive in West Sayville; Bobby Gulinello, who owns The Cortland in Bay Shore; and Joe Esposito.

The new joint pays homage to Nashville-style hot chicken. Its dishes will feature six levels of spiciness: homestyle (a non-spicy version), easy (a mild spice), medium, hot, loud and finally, extra loud.

Hot Chicken Mama is located at 168 Montauk Highway. It will be open from 11 a.m.-7 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday.
