If You Go: The festival at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in West Babylon

|
by Matthew Ambrosio |

The annual festival at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in West Babylon runs from June 1-4 at 200 Great East Neck Road in West Babylon.

In Long Island and the city, these festivals are known as feasts for good reason.

When you’re Greek, Italian or any nationality that’s famous for its food, you can support the local community just by arriving to the event with a healthy appetite.

Eat that gyro and get a blessing from Father Demetrios and his community who are working tirelessly to bring us this annual celebration to raise money for their church and its programs.

IF YOU GO

• Killer Greek and Mediterranean style food.

• A chance to win a BMW or 25k in cash.

• Loukamades, which is fried pancake batter swimming in honey and coated with sugar and cinnamon.

• Face painting, games and rides for the kids.

• Greek coffee

• Live music and dancing.

ª Open arms and hospitality.

To name a few…

I personally recommend the beef and pork gyro and to finish with the loukoumades for dessert. The food was so fresh and delicious I will certainly be returning before it’s over!

As they say in Greek, Yasou. Greetings and enjoy!
