Independent films take center stage at new Sea Cliff festival

|

Independent filmmakers are getting their own spotlight on Long Island’s North Shore this month.

The Sea Cliff Arts Council will host the inaugural Sea Cliff Film Festival on June 13 and 14, bringing a weekend of independent films, filmmaker panels and community events to the village.

The festival will also feature a kickoff screening of The Sixth Borough on June 10 (click below to learn more).

Organizers say the festival will showcase both emerging and established filmmakers while giving attendees the opportunity to meet creators and learn more about the filmmaking process.

“We look forward to hosting the first-ever Sea Cliff Film Festival, where audiences can connect with and learn about young, talented independent filmmakers as well as established masters of the craft,” festival co-founder Katie Taber said in an announcement.

The event is being presented by the Sea Cliff Arts Council, with support from founding sponsors Branch Real Estate Group and Long Island Video Enterprises.

Festival co-founder and Arts Council director Mark Sobel said the festival was founded to celebrate creativity while supporting the local arts community and North Shore businesses.

Tickets, weekend passes, film schedules and the full lineup are available at seaclifffilmfestival.org.
