Island Symphony Orchestra announces 2025-26 ‘Season of Stars’ in Bay Shore

Why go to NYC when you can hear some of the world’s most accomplished artists perform in your own backyard?

The Island Symphony Orchestra has unveiled its “Season of Stars,” featuring internationally acclaimed performers pianist Adam Golka, violinist Lun Li, and double bassist Nina Bernat.

Led by Music Director Eric R. Stewart, the Bay Shore-based orchestra will present programs including popular works by Tchaikovsky, Bach, Beethoven, and Brahms.

Tickets for each show are available online through Eventbrite or at the door.


Opening Concert

Fall Concert

  • Date/Time: Sunday, November 9, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.
  • Location: St. Peter’s By-the-Sea Episcopal Church, Bay Shore
  • Guest Artist: Adam Golka, piano

Program:

  • Mozart: Piano Concerto No. 23 in A major, K. 488
  • Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 6 in B minor, Opus 74

Described by the Washington Post as a player of “brilliant technique and emotional depth,” Golka will open the season with Mozart’s beloved concerto.

Spring Concert: The Romantic Age

  • Location: Bay Shore Middle School
  • Guest Artist: Nina Bernat, double bass

  • Wagner: Overture from Meistersinger
  • Bottesini: Concerto No. 2 for Double Bass
  • Beethoven: Symphony No. 6, Opus 68

Young Performer’s Concerto Competition Concert

  • Date/Time: Sunday, May 17, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.
  • Location: St. Peter’s By-the-Sea Episcopal Church, Bay Shore
  • Guest Artist: Winner of the annual Young Performer’s Concerto Competition (TBA)

Program includes:

  • Verdi: Overture from Nabucco
  • Brahms: Symphony No. 1, Opus 68

Free Community Concerts

ISO Chamber Players: Connecting Generations

  • Date/Time: Sunday, January 11, 2026, at 1:30 p.m.
  • Location: Bay Shore-Brightwaters Library
  • Featuring ISO members and past Young Performers’ Concerto laureates

Dual Language Family Concert

  • Date/Time: Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 7:00 p.m.

  • Program includes Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf / Pedro y el Lobo
