Islanders fan from Hicksville scores $1 million win playing Powerball

|

Judging from this photo it seems possible that this Islanders fan is more thrilled with the Pittsburgh Penguins loss Tuesday night than winning the lottery.

The Penguins loss scored the Islanders a clear path to the NHL Playoffs. Edward Bodrewicz’s lucky Powerball ticket netted him a $1 million second prize.

The Hicksville man matched the first five numbers in the Powerball drawing conducted Feb. 6. The winning numbers were 05 11 22 23 69 Powerball 07.

Bodrewicz received a single lump sum totaling $651,000 after required withholdings.

The winning ticket was purchased at Farmingdale Petroleum located at 400 South Oyster Bay Road in Hicksville. The gas station and convenience store is on a lottery hot streak. Last month, a Plainview man — with a ticket purchased at Farmingdale Petroleum — claimed a $5 million top prize Friday on New York Lottery’s X Series: 100X scratch-off game.
