Islip Town honors local veteran organizations at board meeting

The Town of Islip celebrated veterans during its latest town board meeting earlier this month.

In honor of Veterans Dy, Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter and the Islip Town Board invited the area’s American Legions for a celebration on Nov. 19 at Town Hall.

Additionally, Frank Amalfitano, the president and CEO of the United Veterans Beacon House, was given a designation for the organization’s 25th anniversary.

“This month we celebrated Veterans Day, paying tribute to all those veterans who served and continue to serve our country,” said Carpenter. “In keeping with that theme, today we honor the American Legion and the United Veterans Beacon House on their special anniversaries.

“We owe all Veterans respect, and our eternal gratitude.”
