Islip’s Dang BBQ has expanded into Nassau County, taking over a former diner in Seaford.
Owner Anthony Mastrantonio told GreaterBayShore that they weren’t initially planning on heading west for their second location but something about the space at 3864 Merrick Road caught his attention.
“I fell in love with the old-school diner look,” he said. “Seaford is a great town and it’s in a great location.”
Having spent years working in the restaurant industry, Mastrantonio originally opened up the first Dang BBQ on Islip Avenue back in 2017.
After establishing his restaurant over the last three years, Mastrantonio launched in Seaford last week.
“Our first week we were incredibly busy,” Mastrantonio said. “We didn’t do any promotions or anything other than one Facebook post… It was a great turnout.”
The menu is staying the same, he added, but what is most different is the size in space. The first brick-and-mortar storefront could sit just a several dozen, while the new diner-like experience holds 130 seats.
“It’s like Islip,” Mastrantonio said. “The décor is similar, but we put a little more into it. We had a bigger canvas.”
With a shiny new exterior and a decorated inside, some new features are a milkshake bar that allows customers to sit and watch Dang’s crazy and over-the-top shakes be built.
“We’re excited to be in the neighborhood,” Mastrantonio added. “We’re looking forward to servicing the people in Seaford and do what we do for Islip over here.”
