Long Island’s latest installation of Dark Horse Tavern is up and running in downtown Bay Shore, marking the company’s first Suffolk County location.
And the Dark Horse team received an enthusiastic welcome Thursday from local business and elected leaders, including from the Greater Bay Shore Chamber of Commerce.
“We are thrilled to officially welcome Dark Horse to our business community,” said the chamber’s incoming president, Edward Fraser. “Their presence adds to the vibrancy of our downtown, bringing new energy, jobs, and opportunities to Bay Shore. Supporting new businesses is essential to the continued growth and success of our local economy, and we are proud to have them as part of our Chamber family.”

“Suffolk County is the next frontier for us,” co-owner Christopher Daro previously told GLI. “Nassau is over-saturated, we feel, and I think Bay Shore is one of the leading towns out here. That’s what interested us.”
The party on Thursday offered a peek inside Long Island’s newest Dark Horse spot, where the newly minted staffers were dishing freshly prepared food from the kitchen, pouring craft beers and shaking up premium cocktails.
This is the company’s fourth Dark Horse location, with the others being in Rockville Centre, Farmingdale and Massapequa Park.
All locations, even the High Horse catering space in Farmingdale, operate in a downtown.
“The Chamber of Commerce remains committed to fostering economic development, advocating for local businesses, and ensuring downtown Bay Shore continues to thrive,” a chamber announcement reads. “Events like today’s ribbon cutting highlight the importance of collaboration and community support in building a strong and prosperous local economy.”
