Del Fuego is ‘going phoneless’ this Valentine’s Day so you can actually enjoy your date

Del Fuego is going phoneless for Valentine's Day.

Del Fuego wants to take you back to a more intimate and personal time for Valentine’s Day this year.

Back when people spoke to one another a little bit more. (OK, a lot more.)

That’s right, Del Fuego is going phoneless.

“Love the one you’re with,” is what the team is saying at Del Fuego, the Island’s premier Tex-Mex destination with locations in Babylon, Patchogue, St. James and East Northport.

“I don’t think any restaurants are doing anything like this,” said Vicki Boundouris, of the restaurant group. “However, I have been reading a lot of cafés in Europe that have been going completely offline. And the way people are thoroughly enjoying their time together is what dining out is all about.”

How it works

This part is simple: Put away your phones and enjoy your time together.

And if you do, Del Fuego will mark 15 percent off your check. This goes for the entire party, be it a romantic date night or if you’re dining at Del Fuego with a group.

On Valentine’s Day, which is on Friday, Feb. 14, your server will give the entire table a special sealed bag bag in which to stash your phones.

But, remember, it just takes one person to crack and the discount is lost for all.

So stay strong! If you’re of a certain age, you’ve been here before. And if you’re a Millennial or younger, you’ll get to experience what an adult night out was like back in the day!

“We are trying to create that fun, engaging, connection for our guests when they dine at Del Fuego,” Boundouris added.

“With our high quality food, delicious drinks and great service adding to that experience. “

All four locations will be participating.
