‘It’s a Wonderful Life – Live Radio Play’ heads to Lindenhurst in December

|

Years back, the best way to enjoy a holiday was to gather near a roaring fire, stir hot cocoa with candy canes and listen to stories on the radio.

Feeling all nostalgic and romantic? Well this experience is recreated each year with “It’s a Wonderful Life – Live Radio Show,” by Joe Landry.

The holiday story is staged as a radio broadcast, where actors portray different characters and create their own sound effects to tell a timeless holiday story.

That story is coming to Lindenhurst courtesy of the Phoenix Repertory Theatre Company, which will be debuting the show next month at its BACCA Arts Center.

“Just like the film, It’s a Wonderful Life is about the life of George Bailey, a generous and well-meaning man who has become too downcast and tired to continue living,” wrote the theatre’s spokesperson.

“It will take help from a lovable angel to show George what life would be like if he wasn’t born for George to have a change of heart and understand the true spirit of the holidays.”
