Jack Coan of Sayville invited to New York Jets rookie minicamp

It seems the XFL was just what the doctor ordered for Jack Coan.

Following an up and down spring season as the starting quarterback for the San Antonio Brahmas, the Sayville standout has been invited to the New York Jets rookie minicamp this weekend and Seattle’s rookie camp next weekend, NFL reporter Aaron Wilson reported.

After a rough start with the Brahmas, Coan finished strong, throwing for a season-best 302 yards on 25 of 31 passing while guiding San Antonio to a 25-23 home victory on April 15 to keep the team’s playoff hopes alive. A week later in San Antonio’s 29-28 loss to the D.C. Defenders in the season’s final week, he completed 34 of 48 passes for 312 yards.

San Antonio, coached by Pittsburgh Steelers legend Hines Ward, finished 3-7 and missed the playoffs. Going 2-5 as a starter, Coan finished the season with 1,403 passing yards, with six touchdowns and six interceptions. He also rushed 26 times for 108 yards.

Coan’s professional journey began in May 2022 when he signed with the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent, only to be waived in August at the end of pre-season camp.

Coan joined the Brahmas after being selected in the 2023 XFL Draft in November. Meanwhile, during the fall he received brief NFL tryouts from Las Vegas, Miami and Seattle.

Coan was impressive in college, playing three seasons for Wisconsin, and then his final season at Notre Dame in 2021.

Coan’s dad Mike, excited to share the news about the Seattle Seahawks invite earlier this week, re-tweeted the post below.
