Lynne Andreotti is retiring from her role as a server at Riverhead's Jerry and The Mermaid.

After 27 years of serving up smiles and laughter and making customers feel right at home, Lynne Andreotti, a beloved fixture at Jerry and The Mermaid in Riverhead, is hanging up her apron for good.

The East Main Street restaurant is celebrating her retirement after decades of dedication, calling her “the heart of our restaurant.”

“For so many of you, Lynne wasn’t just your server—she became a friend, a familiar face, and part of your family dining traditions,” ownership wrote in heartfelt Facebook post.

Andreotti, 68, will continue her usual lunch and dinner shifts on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays through Oct. 25, giving regulars one last chance to enjoy her warmth and hospitality.

Her retirement announcement has sparked an outpouring of affection from both coworkers and customers.

Former colleague Mary McClain wrote, “What can I say about a woman who was once a co-worker and then became family to me? Lynne, you knew what we needed before we knew we needed it! Your sense of humor combined with your exceptional service goes unmatched.”

Customer Angelina Christine said Andreotti had a special way of making her family feel at home inside Jerry and The Mermai.

“Lynne has made so many occasions so special for our family!! Wishing many relaxing and sunny and well-deserved restful days in your future.”

Amanda Boles Moore said Lynne is “part of all our favorite Mermaid memories,” and Doreen Sharkey-Cobis noted simply, “Our absolute favorite!!! The place won’t be the same without her.”

There’s a silver lining: Andreotti plans to spend winters away but hopes to return to Long Island in the summers, leaving the door open for a seasonal comeback.

“The restaurant won’t be quite the same without her, but her spirit and legacy will always be a part of our story,” ownership said in its alert.
