Jersey songwriter drops single courting all ‘Pretty Long Island Girls’

Pretty Long Island Girls song by Brett Altman

If there’s one thing Long Island girls aren’t exactly known for, it’s chasing Jersey boys.

Even if you were Frankie Valli in his prime, the thought of crossing two bridges or tunnels just to keep a summer romance alive?

Yeah, that’s probably a dealbreaker.

Besides, Long Island already has plenty of eligible bachelors to choose from — and Garden State guys know it. Still, New Jersey-based artist Brett Altman remains undeterred. And nobody, it seems, loves Long Island women quite like this guy.

“Every Long Island girl says they never go to New Jersey,” Altman says, noting the “obnoxious rivalry nobody can solve” between the two regions.

But despite the playful jabs at his home state, he finds himself drawn to Long Island girls — again and again.

“Forbidden love is kinda hot,” he says.

So, like any romantic with a guitar and a dream, Altman turned his longing into music. His new single, Pretty Long Island Girls, is an ode to the ones who got away — or maybe never gave him a shot to begin with.

The song just dropped with a brand-new music video, streaming now across all platforms. (Scroll down to watch.)

“A Long Island girl and a Jersey boy are never written in the stars,” he says. “Their families would never allow such a union. Although the two places are almost mirror images, the idea of one side losing its child to the other remains unthinkable. But a boy can still dream.”

Pretty Long Island Girls is the first single from Altman’s upcoming album, This Is Me.
