JetBlue adding daily flights from Long Island to Fort Lauderdale

|

More Florida. More often.

JetBlue will soon offer daily service out of Long Island MacAthur Airport to and from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter announced on Friday.

“The Fort Lauderdale flights are going to be daily, starting in April,” Carpenter said during an appearance on News 12 Long Island’s “Power and Politics.”

Airport officials confirmed to Greater Long Island that the JetBlue’s Fort Lauderdale service will be available throughout April, though it could be expanded further depending on how well the routes and schedules perform.

The New York City-based airline kicked off Florida service out of MacArthur Airport in October, offering four weekly flights to Fort Lauderdale, in addition to daily service between Islip and Orlando and service four times a week to and from Palm Beach. Each of the Florida routes features the Airbus A320 aircraft, which include 162 seats with 42 Even More-brand Space Seats.

Earlier this month, JetBlue announced that beginning on April 30 it would fly from Long Island to Boston. It’s a service that was previously unavailable at the Islip Town-managed airport. The Boston flights will run seasonally, for now, through September, and will take about 48 minutes, officials said.
