JetBlue is already expanding its services on Long Island.
The New York City-based airline announced a new route to Long Island’s MacArthur Airport on Wednesday. Starting in April, Long Islanders will be able to fly directly to Boston, a service previously unavailable at the Islip Town-managed airport.
The announcement was made during a press conference at the Ronkonkoma airport.
The Boston service will begin the service April 30, and JetBlue will be kicking things off with $49 one-way fares to entice travelers.
The flights will run seasonally, for now, through September, and will take about 48 minutes, officials said.

This news comes three months after JetBlue began operating at MacArthur Airport. The airline currently offers daily flights between ISP and Orlando (MCO), and four flights weekly to both Fort Lauderdale (FLL) and Palm Beach (PBI). According to the MacArthur Airport website, Palm Beach service runs on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays, while Fort Lauderdale service operates on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
“Since JetBlue has been here at the airport, we’ve had 40 new employees at the airport, so the economic impact of new service, new carriers at our airport means so much to our region,” said Shelly LaRose, the airport’s commissioner of aviation.

JetBlue, founded in 1999, was headquartered in Forest Hills, Queens, before relocating to Long Island City. It promotes itself as “New York’s Hometown Airline.” Today, JetBlue is the sixth-largest airline in the U.S. and the only major passenger airline based in New York.
MacArthur Airport has undergone significant improvements since 2016, with over $100 million invested in planning and capital projects. These include rehabilitated taxiways and runways, a new ground transportation center, a fire rescue building, and ongoing upgrades to mechanical, engineering, and plumbing systems.
