Pat-Med’s Josh Knoth dazzles in Double-A debut, pitcher retires 13 of final 16 batters he faced

Josh Knoth allowed three runs in the first inning of his Double-A debut Tuesday night — then made everyone forget about it.

The Patchogue-Medford grad retired 13 of his final 16 batters faced over five innings for the Biloxi Shuckers, striking out four and allowing hard contact on just two of 11 balls in play. It extended his streak of pitching at least five innings to six straight appearances.

Watching from the stands in Mississippi was Anthony Frascogna, Knoth’s varsity coach at Pat-Med, who made the trip to see his former ace take the mound for Milwaukee’s Double-A affiliate.

Knoth left the game with a 6-4 lead, Frascogna reported. The Shuckers gave it back in relief, then won it in walk-off fashion in their final at-bat.

Knoth, the Brewers’ 2023 first-round pick, was promoted to Double-A last week, just 19 months after Tommy John surgery sidelined him for the entire 2025 season. He’s Milwaukee’s No. 9 overall prospect and its third-ranked pitching prospect.

At Pat-Med, Knoth threw perfect games in back-to-back seasons and in 2022 won the Carl Yastrzemski Award as a junior, given annually to the top player in Suffolk County.

Knoth has now made 41 appearances on the mound as a pro, including 39 starts. He has 174 strikeouts over 164 innings pitched during two seasons in the minor leagues.
