Levittown is about to lose its King Kullen.
A store employee confirmed on Monday to Greater Long Island that the supermarket’s last day open will be on Thursday. The doors will close to customers at 3 p.m. that day, the employee said.
Staffers at the grocery store, located at 3284 Hempstead Turnpike, will be transferred to other King Kullen locations. The Hauppauge-based chain has more than 30 locations on Long Island, including four Wild by Nature stores.
The first King Kullen opened in 1930, in Jamaica, Queens. Back in 2020, a deal fell through that would have seen Stop & Shop acquire all of the King Kullen stores in Nassau and Suffolk.
