Kismet Coffee had Bay Shore abuzz with free coffee, playful pups

Kismet Coffee brewed up more than just delicious drinks Friday in downtown Bay Shore.

It brewed up joy for the Greater Bay Shore community — in the form of free coffee and playful pups.

In a partnership with Canine Companions, Kismet played host to a heartwarming event that was met with an outpouring of support from residents — with families, friends and coffee lovers gathering to enjoy a complimentary cup while meeting the incredible service dogs from Canine Companions.

The sight of children laughing and engaging with the well-trained canines brought smiles to everyone’s faces, making the day extra special, attendees said.

“Kismet Coffee has always been about community,” said Eddie Fraser, incoming president of the Greater Bay Shore Chamber of Commerce. “Teaming up with Canine Companions was the perfect way to give back, not only by offering free coffee but by supporting an amazing organization that changes lives through their service dogs.”

Canine Companions, a national nonprofit with a volunteer chapter here on Long Island, provides highly trained service dogs to children, adults and veterans with disabilities —empowering them with greater independence and companionship.

Representatives from the organization were on-site to educate the public about their mission and the impact of service dogs on people’s lives.

Local leaders and community members alike praised the initiative.

“This event showcases the generosity and community spirit of Bay Shore,” Fraser said. “It’s inspiring to see businesses come together with nonprofits to make a real difference.”

As the sun set on a day filled with kindness, connection and caffeine, Bay Shore residents left with warm hearts and full cups, looking forward to more events that bring the community together.
