Kmart in Bohemia closes permanently on Sunday

Attention local Kmart shoppers.

The department store chain’s Bohemia location shuts down for good on Sunday, but not before one final blitz in its going out of business sale. Every item in the store is now marked down between 70-90 percent.

Given that the store has been running its “blowout” sale since weeks before the holidays, you might ask yourself “What’s left?”

A worker who answered the phone at Kmart on Thursday offered a hint:

“There’s nothing I would buy,” she said.

Still, it just may be worth taking a shot and visiting the Sayville Plaza store one last time — if only for nostalgic purposes.

The Bohemia store, located at 5151 Sunrise Highway, is among 96 Kmart and Sears stores closing this month, the parent company Transformco said. The Kmart closing is just the latest setback for the beleagured Sayville Plaza, where several large storefronts have remained vacant for years.

Pier 1 Imports there closed earlier this year.
