A Nassau County lottery player scored a huge win, claiming a $1 million Powerball second prize on Friday.
Syed Abbas of Levittown matched the first five numbers drawn in the Sept. 6 drawing — 11, 23, 44, 61 and 62 — to secure the big prize. Only the Power Ball, which was 17, eluded him.
Abbas opted for a one-time lump sum payment, receiving $651,000 after required withholdings.
He purchased the winning ticket at Hillside Cigar Shop, located at 338 Hillside Ave. in Williston Park.
To win the Powerball jackpot, players need to match all six numbers on their ticket to the drawn six-number combination (five numbers plus the Powerball). There is a Powerball drawing every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 PM.
