After eight years of serving pizza and becoming part of the community, Vincenzo’s Pizzeria in Levittown is preparing to close its doors.
Owner Garret Klein announced in a farewell letter posted on Facebook that the Wantagh Avenue pizzeria will serve its final customers on Halloween, Oct. 31.
Klein thanked the customers who supported the business over the years, through both good times and difficult ones.
“Through the good times and the hard ones, you kept showing up,” he wrote. “We could never thank you enough for that.”
For Klein, one of the most rewarding parts of running Vincenzo’s was becoming more than just a neighborhood pizza shop.
“We watched kids grow up, head off to college, graduate, and start the next chapters of their lives,” he wrote. “Somewhere in the middle of making their dinner, we got to become a small part of their story. That’s a pretty special thing.”
Klein acknowledged that running the business came with challenges, mistakes and lessons along the way, but said the experience was one his team cherished.
“Whether you came in every week or only once in a while, you helped us build something that mattered to us,” he wrote. “You helped support our family. We never took that lightly.”
The announcement drew heartfelt responses from longtime customers, many sharing memories of the food, staff and relationships they had built over the years.
“Sorry to hear this news. You made the best garlic bread I ever had,” Susan Marino commented. “Staff was always friendly and I actually travelled out of the way to get your pizza.”
“We struck gold when you came to town,” Lynne Anne Pen wrote. “Garret, you always took care of us and you did so much good for the community. We thank you and will greatly miss you and your crew.”
Klein did not give a reason for the closure in his farewell letter, but said he and his team are looking ahead to whatever comes next.
“There are too many people to thank and too many stories to tell — some probably better left behind the counter,” he wrote. “We’re ready to see what comes next, but we’re going to miss being your pizza place.”
“Thank you for making this chapter of our lives one we’ll never forget.”
