Lindenhurst Diner says it hired robot servers — we have questions

Tony Tzatziki and Vinny Voltage were ready to roll. There was just one problem.

Lindenhurst Diner made an exciting announcement today, introducing two robot servers as the newest members of its team.

And for a second, we believed it. But then we remembered the calendar.

The iconic diner pulled a fast one on customers today with a Facebook post unveiling “Tony Tzatziki” and “Vinny Voltage” — a pair of AI-powered robots allegedly hired after months of training and a few firmware updates. It seemed to work.

“Tony Tzatziki is your refill specialist,” the diner wrote. “Your coffee hits half-full and somehow… he’s already there like a caffeinated guardian angel.”

The post continued: “Vinny Voltage runs full-floor support — food running, table resets, helping our servers stay locked in… basically the ultimate teammate with perfect timing. They’re here to keep things moving, help the crew, and make sure you’re taken care of from start to finish.”

The post, published on April 1, was — of course — a joke. But that didn’t stop it from landing.

Customers flooded the comments — some fooled, some suspicious, and at least one already thinking about the tip line.

“I was about to be angry until I realized what day it was,” wrote David Budd.

Anthony Innace was right there with him. “Yeah, you had me for a second,” he wrote. “I was just about to make a bad comment.”

Tony Donato caught on — but wasn’t ready to call the concept impossible. “We’re not too far away from this actually happening!” he wrote. “Happy April Fools Day!”

And Hugo Alfaro found the silver lining: “At least they won’t bitch about tipping 20%.”
