The Lindenhurst Union Free School District welcomed back its elementary school students at full capacity on Nov. 4, the district announced on Thursday.
After six months of closure and two months of hybrid learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic, students of the district’s six elementary schools returned to their classrooms donning masks and reunited in-person with faculty.
Remote learning will remain an option for families who may be uncomfortable sending their children back to school during this time.
Also, on Nov. 9, the district will increase capacity at the secondary level from 25 percent to 50 percent, school officials said.
“The safety and well-being of our students and staff have always been at the forefront of our decision making,” district superintendent Danie Giordano said in a statement. “We are grateful to the members of the community who have shared their input and remained patient as we worked through the reopening process.”
