A Lindenhurst man caught with more than 1,000 child sex abuse images on home devices Thursday faces child pornography charges, Suffolk Police said.

Richard Enstad, 68, a lifelong Lindenhurst resident, was charged with promoting a sexual performance by a child and possessing a sexual performance by a child.

The arrest came after a tip from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and a subsequent investigation by Suffolk County Police Digital Forensics Unit detectives.

Officers executed a search warrant at the Gates Avenue home where Enstad grew up about 7:25 a.m. and seized multiple electronic devices.

A 1976 graduate of Lindenhurst High School, Enstad was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday at Suffolk First District Court in Central Islip.
