The Long Island Laser just got his first win in the XFL — and it was a dominate one.
Sayville’s Jack Coan and his San Antonio Brahmas defeated the Orlando Guardians, 30-12, in Orlando Sunday afternoon.
It was a near perfect game for Coan, who threw for 165 yards for three touchdowns on 66% pass completion. He also added 23 yards rushing.
He got the game rolling from his first drive, going a perfect 5/5 for 42 yards and a score. He found his tight end Deon Yelder — a former New York Giant practice squad player — in the end zone for a three-yard touchdown. Watch it below.
His other two scores were a 19-yard pass to TE Alize Mack in the second quarter and a 24-yarder to WR Jalen Tolliver in the third quarter.
This was a big rebound win for Coan and his squad, who lost in heartbreaking fashion in Week 1 to former College Football National Champion QB A.J. McCarron.
After two weeks, Coan has shown he’s one of the better passers in the newly restarted XFL. He has the highest completion rating of all XFL quarterbacks with 68.3%; he’s the league’s leader in first down percentage at 36.7%; and he’s tied for first in passing touchdowns with four.
The Long Islander will look to continue his quality play next week when his team faces the Houston Roughnecks (2-0) in Houston on Sunday, March 5, at 8 p.m. The game will be broadcasted on ESPN2.
