Long Island University, the New York Islanders and UBS Arena are teaming up to launch a new annual Division I men’s hockey tournament at Belmont Park, according to an announcement.
The event, dubbed the “Empire State Holiday Invitational,” will debut Dec. 28–29, 2026, at UBS Arena in Elmont.
LIU — the only Division I program in the New York City for both men’s and women’s hockey — is partnering with the Islanders to co-host event, which comes as part of a shared commitment to grow the sport locally. The organizations also recently inked a five-year partnership.
Additional information regarding the tournament will be announced in the upcoming months.
