Long Beach woman charged in hit-and-run that killed bicyclist in Atlantic Beach

A Long Beach woman faces criminal charges after striking a bicyclist in Atlantic Beach Tuesday morning and fleeing from the scene, police said.

Erin Henry, 67, arrested after Nassau Police detectives — working together Long Beach Police — located her car.

The crash occurred at 7:46 a.m. on Beech Street near Scott Drive. Henry was driving a 2019 Honda HR-V eastbound when she struck a man riding a bicycle, and then fled east on Beech Street, police said.

The bicyclist, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities.

Beech Street was closed in both directions between Mark Lane and Scott Drive for several hours.

Henry is charged with leaving the scene of an incident causing a death. She was arraigned Wednesday.
