The North Fork Animal Welfare League is issuing an urgent plea to the public: They need foster homes — and fast.
As kitten season hits full swing, the shelter is overwhelmed with rescues, particularly orphaned newborns that require bottle feeding around the clock.
“We are in desperate need of fosters for bottle feeding,” the East End shelter posted to social media on Tuesday. “Our shelters are full, as well as our foster homes.”
Volunteers have been working tirelessly to save kittens throughout the North Fork and surrounding areas. But without new foster families stepping in, the organization says they may not be able to save every animal in need.
HOW TO HELP:
If you’re willing to open your home and help care for vulnerable kittens, the North Fork Animal Welfare League wants to hear from you.
- Call 631-765-1811 ext. 1
- Or text Kate directly at 631-276-0321
A foster application is required before placement.
“The more fosters we have, the more lives will be saved,” the League said.
