The Long Island Ducks have a new owner.
REV Entertainment — the official sports and entertainment company of the Texas Rangers — has purchased the Ducks, ending the 25-year ownership tenure of founder and Long Island native Frank Boulton.
The Ducks, who play at Fairfield Properties Ballpark in Central Islip, are the winningest franchise in Atlantic League history and four-time league champions (2004, 2012, 2013 and 2019).
REV Entertainment now owns teams across three MLB Partner Leagues, including the American Association, Frontier League and Atlantic League. Its portfolio includes the Cleburne Railroaders, Kane County Cougars and Schaumburg Boomers.
“We’re proud to welcome the Long Island Ducks into the REV family,” REV Entertainment President Sean Decker said in a statement. “Frank Boulton has built something truly special on Long Island. Our responsibility is to honor that legacy, build upon the foundation he established, and continue delivering an affordable, family-friendly experience while positioning the Ducks for long-term success.”
Boulton, who founded the Ducks in 2000 and also launched the Atlantic League, will remain involved in an advisory role. Under his leadership, the league sent more than 1,450 players to MLB organizations and drew more than 49 million fans.
“I have always viewed my ownership of the Long Island Ducks as a public trust, and any successor had to be in lockstep with that belief,” said Boulton. “REV Entertainment has that commitment and is the right organization to guide the Ducks into the future and keep QuackerJack dancing on the dugout tops for many years to come.
The Ducks are the Atlantic League’s all-time leader in wins and attendance and have sold out 721 games — the most in league history.
