Long Island has 53 ‘million-dollar’ communities, report

|

A whopping 53 Long Island communities are considered “million-dollar” cities — where the typical home is worth $1 million or more — according to new market data.

At the top of the list is Sagaponack, where a typical home is worth $5.7 million. Located just south of Sag Harbor, the village of about 770 residents has long been ranked among America’s most expensive zip codes.

Sagaponack is seventh on Zillow’s list of 550 “million-dollar” U.S. cities. Long Island has four communities — including Water Mill, Bridgehampton and Amagansett — among the top 50 on the list and nine in the top 100. A year ago, there were 491 cities on the same list.

Ten Long Island communities boast typical home values exceeding $2 million, Zillow reports.

All of the Long Island communities on the list are considered in Zillow’s report as part of Metropolitan New York, which Zillow says is the metro area with the most “million-dollar” cities: 106.
