Golden Pear closing in Bridgehampton after lease talks fall through

|

After nearly two decades of golden mornings, The Golden Pear Café in Bridgehampton is closing for good this weekend.

The beloved café made the news official on Wednesday with a Facebook post.

“After so many golden mornings, we’re saying goodbye to our Bridgehampton café. To our neighbors, regulars, and staff who made this location feel like home, thank you for every visit and memory.”

The company also hinted that this might not be a goodbye to the area.

It might be more of a see ya’ later.

“We’ve loved serving this community and hope to welcome you into a new location soon,” the post also reads. “Please come visit! Three days left to stop in, see the team, and share one more coffee with us.”

The closure marks the end of an era for the Montauk Highway staple, known for its breakfast sandwiches, baked goods, and laid-back Hamptons vibe.

The company’s founder and chef, Keith Davis, told The Express News Group he was unable to negotiate a new lease with his landlord, whom he did not name, according to a report on 27east.com.

“This decision will deeply affect our employees and their families — people who devoted decades to serving our loyal guests,” Davis wrote in a letter to the outlet. “The loss of The Golden Pear in Bridgehampton is not only the closing of a beloved café but the end of a workplace that provided stability, pride and purpose.”

The Golden Pear still operates locations in Southampton and East Hampton, according to its website.
