Just 11 days after Lidl closed its Westhampton Beach location, another supermarket has announced plans to take over the space.
Holiday Farms Supermarket has signed a long-term lease for the former Lidl location at 70 Sunset Ave., according to Breslin Realty, which announced the deal.
Lidl, the German discount grocery chain, closed its Westhampton Beach store after five years in the village. The company did not publicly disclose a reason for the closure, and Westhampton Beach Mayor Ralph Urban told 27east he was never given an explanation either.
Before Lidl, the location was home to Best Market and Waldbaum’s.
The locally owned and operated Holiday Farms will occupy the 30,000-square-foot space, marking its fourth Long Island location and first in Suffolk County.
Holiday Farms currently operates three supermarkets in Nassau County, with locations in Roslyn Heights, Franklin Square and Glen Head.
“Holiday Farms, a high-quality, family owned supermarket, will be natural fit in the Westhampton Beach community,” said Justin Breslin, vice president of Breslin Realty.
The supermarket specializes in fresh and prepared foods, with on-site chefs preparing meals daily. Its stores also feature bakeries, delis and year-round catering services. Holiday Farms also offers home delivery and pickup services, along with a wide selection of specialty, gourmet and diet-focused products.
An opening date for the Westhampton Beach location has not yet been announced.
