Six Long Island hospitals secured spots among the top 25 in the New York metropolitan area in the newly released 2025‑26 U.S. News & World Report rankings.
Placing highest on the list are North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset and Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park. The two Northwell Health facilities are among four hospitals tied for 6th in the metro area.
North Shore is renowned for its comprehensive services, including a Level I trauma center, advanced cancer care and specialized neuroscience institutes. Nationally ranked in 10 adult specialties, it serves as a primary teaching hospital for the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell.
Long Island Jewish Medical Center offers a wide range of medical services and is nationally ranked in nine adult and six pediatric specialties.

St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center in Roslyn ranks 10th on the regional list. Specializing in cardiac care, it is nationally ranked in seven adult patient categories.
Stony Brook University Hospital holds the 12th position, while Northwell’s Huntington Hospital is 15th.
Another Northwell facility, South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore, came in at 17th on the U.S. News annual ranking.
U.S. News evaluated the performance of more than 4,400 hospitals, based on such objective measures as risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications and level of nursing care. This is the 36th year of the Best Hospitals annual study.
