|

Long Island native Anthony Kay is headed back to The Show.

The 30-year-old lefty from Stony Brook has reportedly signed a two year deal with the Chicago White Sox, after spending the last two seasons in Japan.

Kay last pitched in majors in 2023 with the Mets and the Cubs.

He spent the first four seasons of his career with the Blue Jays, but struggled in all three spots, finishing with an ERA over 5 in 45 games.

In 2024, the Ward Melville grad left the States to pitch for the Yokohama DeNA BayStars in Nippon Professional Baseball, where he became one of the top foreign starters in the league.

In 48 starts, Kay had a 2.53 ERA and struck out more than 20% of the batters he faced

Kay was a first-round pick by the Mets in 2016, before getting traded to Toronto in 2019 for another Long Islander, Marcus Stroman. During his high school days, he led the Patriots to their first ever Long Island Championship.

He was also named as the Gibson Award winner in 2012, given to the best pitcher in Suffolk County.
